Charles Manson, the wild-eyed 1960s cult leader whose followers committed heinous murders that terrorized Los Angeles and shocked the nation, died Sunday of natural causes, age 83.
Manson was (in)famous for The Tate murders, a series of notorious and brutal killings conducted by members of the Manson Family on August 8–9, 1969, which claimed the lives of five people, one of them pregnant. Four members of the Family invaded the home of married celebrity couple, actress Sharon Tate and director Roman Polanski in Los Angeles. They murdered Tate (who was eight and a half months pregnant), along with three friends who were visiting at the time, and an 18-year-old visitor, who was slain as he was departing the home. Polanski was not present on the night of the murders as he was working on a film in Europe.

Linda Kasabian was a follower of the cult and was selected to drive the killers to the Tate residence because she had the only valid driver's license. Kasabian, who was then pregnant with her second child, agreed to an immunity offer in exchange for turning state's evidence.

And that, is where the band Kasabian got its name from. :) With this in mind take another look at this video for the song Re-Wired. Enjoy.

PS "fun" fact, kasabi means butcher in Turkish. That's probably where the (Armenian) name Kasabian stems from.

Former TIMJ double identity dutchzaphod/dutchbeeblebrox. Known for hashtags DutchClassic and NVAS (Nouvelle Vague Appreciation Society). Currently, for several reasons, contemplating moving from Amsterdam to "the country". At the age of 61 seeking less stairs and readily available nature. But reluctant to leave because of the many music venues in Amsterdam. In 2017 so far I've been to Poets of the Fall, Green Day and Two Door Cinema Club. In 2016 I went to see Nothing But Thieves, Poets of the Fall (2 times), The Maccabees, Tame Impala, Cage the Elephant, Muse, Noel Gallagher and his High Flying Birds, Breaking Benjamin, Temper Trap, The Boxer Rebellion, White Lies, The Kaiser Chiefs, Biffy Clyro, Alter Bridge, The Cure, Model Depose, Nouvelle Vague, Placebo and Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet). 2017: Green Day and Two Door Cinema Club
