Axol's current selection is:
Waterloo Sunset
by The Kinks
#FiftyYearsAgo #Celebrating1967 No. 17.

To me, this is one of the top five singles of the year if not my favourite song of 1967. Reached No. 2 in The Singles Chart and prevented from reachiing the top spot by "Silence Is Golden" by The Tremeloes - excellent pop song but, imho, not in the same league!

First released as a single in May "Waterloo Sunset" then appeared on The Kinks album "Something Else By The Kinks" which was released in September. Despite being a great album it sold badly because of record company mismanagement. Now that hasn't happened before or since. 1967 was a vintage year for screwing up the artistic output of bands and the amount of money that they got from their efforts. Some great bands got disillusioned and broke up as a result of greedy and cloth-eared production values.

What is your top tune of '67?
