Nothing Takes The Place of You
by Shovels & Rope (feat JD McPherson)
Shovels & Rope are an American folk duo from Charleston, South Carolina composed of husband and wife Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst. Combining threads from their individual solo careers, Shovels & Rope blends traditional folk, rock and roll and country rock. I've seen 'em live a couple of times, once in SC and once in Glasgow - always a joy.
From the album "Busted Jukebox Vol 1" - a bunch of cover versions of old classics, and each featuring a guest vocalist or musician. Quite a few gems on there. In this case it's JD McPherson who takes up the vocals.
This is a cover of an old Toussaint McCall song - original here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6I4fUnICdI Used in the movie Hairspray

Hope this doesn't inspire the wrath of the Tourette's brigade as some of my cover posts have in the past :)
Actually, who gives a sh*t
