There Ain't Nothing Like Shagging
by The Tams
Heard this track earlier today via @EdwynCollins on Twitter - made me laugh out loud (actually spat out my porridge).

The band formed in 1960, and took their name from the Tam o'shanter hats they wore on stage.

This single from 1987, after a long spell of no new releases, reached #21 in UK, propelled by a US regionally-popular dance known as the Carolina shag (which featured heavily in the subsequent 1989 film, Shag).

However, the track was banned by the BBC because the word "shag" means "to have sexual intercourse" in colloquial British English.

In a later interview Charles Pope said "the Tams never really figured out that in Britain the word shag is slang for sexual intercourse and that their popularity was largely a result of the innuendo hidden in the title."

I'm not a saint, but I'm not the worst. Yes, I'm a sinner but I'm not the last or the first. Deep down inside, oh you know that I'm good, and I just done the best Lord, done the best that I could
