American Girl
by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Lost, knocked up, and no one to turn to, Moxie the Stray moved in with me. I didn't realize she was pregnant until her spay appointment became a prenatal appointment. She blessed me with six children, two of whom live with me (and the others were adopted). Thirteen years later, her health was failing and off to the vet we went. She had suffered from a stroke, and likely had cancer, so she was sent to heaven today. It was the right thing to do. My handle, Deluxemutt, has been a nod to her because she was that great of a dog. She was my American Girl. (In the cover photo, she is with Rudy, another pet who is now in heaven, whom I posted about a while ago https://www.godsjukebox.com/Labracoon/the-drifters-ruby-baby/ ). Lest we forget, Layla Labracoon who showed Moxie the ways of a loving household with regular meals and furniture to sleep upon, things unknown to her until she moved in: https://www.godsjukebox.com/Labracoon/cat-stevens-i-love-my-dog/
Pets, like people, do not live forever. However, their time on our earth shows us what unconditional love is all about. I am thankful for the pets I have been fortunate to have in my life. For the record, they all are, and have been, rock 'n rollers. That's just how it is at my place.
