Sometimes It Snows In April
by Prince
I'm not a big Prince fan but, thankfully, my wife is. I say this because if she wasn't, we wouldn't have gone to see him recently while on his 'Man & Piano' solo tour. I didn't say to her at the time but I wasn't really interested in going. However, because she went to so much effort to get the tickets, I bit down on my general lassitude for him and went along.

I'm so pleased I did. I got to see a performer of such caliber, very few could touch him. And to see him by himself, without his backing band and singers, without the lights and fancy of a full stage show, stripping back familiar tracks to their barest essence was something I'll never forget. Add to this the fact this was his second show of the day, well it went well beyond my wildest expectations.

This track, from the woeful 'Under The Cherry Moon' movie, is anything but. It is evocative, beautifully simple and so typical of the man.

RIP Prince.
