Took the lad to see Glenn Hughes at a very hot and very packed Holmfirth Picturedrome (fab venue) last week.
I took a photo.
Unlike other ageing rock vocalists, Hughes' voice is as good as ever, and along with a fine band ran through a rollockin' set of Deep Purple material, including this one.
Glenn wrote this with close friend Tommy Bolin who played guitar on this album, and died at the age of 25 a year later.
Hughes maintains that he has played this song at every gig he's ever played since Tommy's death.
Special mention for Glenn's drummer Ashley Sheehan who is undoubtedly the most energetic drummer I've ever seen, and he also fronted the support band Dead Sea Skulls standing up at his drum kit. Here's a clip if you have the time, which doesn't quite show what a brilliantly manic front man he is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66nUhDCWK4I
