JasonTaverner's current selection is:
Deeper Understanding
by Kate Bush
Spike Jonze may have won the Golden Globe, the Writers Guild of America Award, and the Academy Award for his screenplay for the 2013 movie Her, but Kate Bush had the same essential idea over two decades prior. In 2011 Kate Bush herself directed a video adaptation starring Robbie Coltrane. Unfortunately, she rerecorded the song and substituted the original computer voice with that of her son, Albert, which downplayed the sensual overtones of the original, itself a part of the album "The Sensual World." In 2012 a fan recut her video and used the original audio and the world hadn't seen such rejoicing over a fan edit since Mike J. Nichols created a Jar Jar Binks-less version of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace in 2000.
