Keep My Skillet Good & Greasy
by Those Darlins
I had a very close call the other day. I came close to being sandwiched between a 5-6 car pileup and I was listening to the studio version of this song. This could have been the last song I heard.

Those Darlins met while attending a rock and roll girls camp in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. They started out as a three-pieces girl bluegrass/country band doing covers of old country musicians such as the Carter Family and Uncle Dave Macon (who wrote this song in the 1920s or 1930s) while utilizing the traditional bluegrass instrumentation like clogging and washboards. Later, the group adopted an alt-country and garage rock style, which garnered the attention of Black Keys vocalist who asked the group to be an opening act on their tour around 2008. Those Darlins went on to produce three albums and creating their own record label-Oh Wow Dang-before going on hiatus in 2016. In 2017, one the lead vocalists, Jessi Zazu, passed away from cervical cancer at the age of 28.

This is one of their performances that was filmed here in Athens, Georgia by Athens Sounds in 2010.
