Murkredi's current selection is:
Nine By Nine
by John Dummer's Famous Music Band
So. At the age of 15, I was 'enduring' a camping holiday in France with my family. But everywhere we went, we heard this strangely catchy violin piece - on jukeboxes, in shops, in arcades, on radios. On the last day of the holiday, I went into a record shop and somehow managed to find out what it was (I actually hummed the tune to the assistant) and walked out with a copy of the single.

I still think it's great. John Dummer's Band was a sort of jobbing blues band that were doing the rounds in the late 60s, early 70s. They'd pretty much fallen apart when this track featuring the violinist Nick Picket became a surprise number one hit in France. The single made no impact anywhere else. They released another single in the UK (Medicine Weasel) which was only bought by me and 4 other people.

I think it's a gem.
