Neat Neat Neat (Peel Session)
by The Damned
any look at #releasedin77 has to include what was the first Punk album although this Peel session comes from 1976.

Neat Neat Neat was also released as a single in 1977 (on 18th Feb to coincide with release of the album and 4 days from my 20th birthday) but didn’t chart. Its also a song that has always sat in my favourites and would be a desert island disc

The album for me is full of terrific tunes short sharp (in the main) and very amusing and as a whole I rate in above Never Mind The Bollocks but behind Crossing The Red Sea With The Adverts in Punk terms

I brought the album as soon as it came out and have played it on and off to death. I saw The Damned on both their 35th and 40th anniversary tours the latter to commemorate the release of this album. A CD Dropped as “Live In Margate”

The song has been posted 3 times by @debutch (link broken) @ThomasOShea (who included THIS “as live” video of the band doing their thing complete with shrieking girls and Mike Mansfield from the Saturday morning TV show Supersonic) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--erJSsmraY and @hipsterplease

In 2005, Stylus Magazine ranked the song's bassline at No. 33 in their list of the "Top 50 Basslines of All Time”.

As I’ve often said The BBC have an art of doing studio stuff sometime better than the original recording.. this ain’t that far away...

another BONUS is a video of the band on a late night TV programme called iN Bed with Medinner seems to contain Vanian only from the original line up. Capt Sensible is back now.. This would have originated between 1992 and 1999 and “maybe” Rat Scabies is on Drums... though maybe not
