by Carverton, feat. Kyle Yorlets, lead vocals/guitar
Kyle Yorlets (1994 to 2019) was an American musician, with 'Carverton'. Kyle Justin Yorlets was born on November 18th 1994 in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, USA. After attending high school in Camp Hill, he signed up for Belmont University in Tennessee, and in 2014 co-founded a local band alongside Michael Curry. They named it 'Carverton', and promptly moved to Nashville to try to promote it. While there, they met Christian Ferguson and Michael Wiebell, who completed the band and added the missing pieces to their sound. Their style mixed together traces of 'pop punk', 'indie pop', 'hip-hop' and 'rock & roll', and in 2017 Yorlets and the band launched a self-titled EP, giving the four-piece a solid start to their career. It was produced by Danen Rector and engineered by Johnny Lutz, and featured the singles "Hollywood" and "Pretty Little Monster" - the latter became the theme song for the 2017 Firefly Festival 'promo' video which featured their debut performance in Dover, Delaware. This led to another performance at the Doah Fest in Luray, Virginia, and some opening act opportunities with bands including 'Icon for Hire', 'Makeout', 'Set It Off', 'Boys of Fall' and 'Stages & Stereos'. Going into 2018, the group then entered the studio to record a debut full-length album - to be called "Chasing Sounds", it had not been released by the time of Yorlets' demise (it was scheduled to be due out at the end of March 2019). However, two singles from it were released ahead of time, called "Wildside" (featured here) and "Misery". Kyle Yorlets suffered fatal gunshot wounds during an attempted robbery outside his shared house in Nashville on February 7th 2019. He was just 24, and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center but pronounced dead there. Five juveniles have been detained by police over the murder.

Hundreds of very talented musicians pass away each year, some without much recognition at all. On "Rest In Peace", I aim to give them a fitting 'send-off', with a decent Tribute. I hope you will join me in marking their passing.....
