Cositas Buenas
by Claudio Taddei
Claudio Taddei (1966 to 2019) was a Swiss-Uruguayan singer and plastic artist. Claudio Taddei was born on December 22nd 1966 in Minas, Lavalleja, Switzerland, of Uruguayan ancestry. The son of the painter Julio Taddei Dominguez, his life (and that of his sister Rossana) was often split between Switzerland and the South American country Uruguay. By the time he was three, he had lived in his hometown Minas, the Uruguayan capital Montevideo, and then back to the Swiss city of Lugano, and in 1981 returned to Montevideo to finish his secondary education. In 1984, Taddei received his first solo category award at the La Paz Festival in Uruguay, and from 1986 to 1990 attended the National School of Fine Arts. From that point on, he divided his artistic activity between music and painting, and in 1987 created his first band, 'Camaron Bombay' - however, from 1995 onwards he concentrated on a solo career. His first painting exhibition was put on in 1992 at the Iris Gallery in Lugano, and in 2002 he re-settled in Switzerland, installing a painting workshop in Caslano, Ticino. In 2013, Taddei created the "Intuitive" artistic project, where he combined his music with his painting in the form of a DVD of twelve songs with twelve video clips, captured over twelve days and nights at Il Rivellino in Locarno. Using a cast of seven people, the works were performed and recorded 'live' at the venue, using amplified sounds of brushes stroking or hitting canvases, interposed with drums and percussion to confirm the musical basis. Claudio Taddei died in Lugano on August 9th 2019, aged 52. He had been fighting cancer for about fifteen years. † REST IN PEACE †
Hundreds of very talented musicians pass away each year, some without much recognition at all. On "Rest In Peace", I aim to give them a fitting 'send-off', with a decent Tribute. I hope you will join me in marking their passing.....
