Ma Voi Intoarce (Dupa Ani Si Ani)
by Compact, feat. Leo Iorga, lead vocals/guitar
Leo Iorga (1964 to 2019) was a Romanian 'rock' singer/guitarist, with 'Compact'. Leo Iorga was born in Arad, Romania, on December 2nd 1964 (at that time the country was a socialist republic). He started his interest in music at the age of 14 as a drummer in the high school band 'Ioan Slavici', and then played guitar with the group 'Pacific' until 1985. In 1988, he joined the band 'Cargo' as its lead vocalist, performing with them on the hits "Brigadierii", "Povestiri din Gara" and "Erata". From autumn 1988 however, Iorga moved on to do the same for the group 'Compact', also contributing several compositions alongside Adrian Ordean, Vlady Cnejevici, Teo Peter, Emil Laghia and Lelut Vasilescu. With this line-up, they performed at the 1989 Mitt Ein Ander festival in Berlin, Germany, and also carried out three tours of the Republic of Moldova in 1988, 1990 and 1992. In 1990, they also took part in the "British Rock for Romania" tour alongside the artists 'Crazy Head', 'Jesus Jones' and 'Skin Games', and in 1992 played at the festival called Rock '92, supporting 'Uriah Heep' and the 'Ian Gillan Band'. In 1993, Iorga and the group performed in two concerts (Brasov and Sofia) with the legendary band 'Nazareth', and in 1994 played at the Skip Rock Festival with 'Jethro Tull'. They were part of the "Marlboro Music" tour in 1993, 1994 and 1995, with 'Holograf', 'Iris' and 'Directia 5' before disbanding in 1996. From 1997 to 2001 he sang lead vocals once more as part of the band 'Schimbul 3', and led a reunion of his former band 'Pacific' from 2003 until his death. Leo Iorga died after an eight year battle with cancer in Bucharest on November 2nd 2019, aged 54. [ Translated from: ]

Hundreds of very talented musicians pass away each year, some without much recognition at all. On "Rest In Peace", I aim to give them a fitting 'send-off', with a decent Tribute. I hope you will join me in marking their passing.....
