It's Your Thing
by Dzhem Rozhdeniya, feat. Roman Grinev, bass
Roman Grinev (1976 to 2018) was a Russian 'jazz' bassist, with 'Lebedi Fank'. Roman Grinev was born in Chernogolovka, Moscow Oblast, Russia, on December 8th 1976. After studying music at the Gosudarstvennoye Muzykal'noye Uchilishche Estradno-Dzhazovogo Iskusstva establishment, he concentrated on perfecting his skill as a 'jazz' bass player and going on to co-found the 'Lebedi Fank' 'jazz' ensemble with its leader, Andrey Lebedev. He eventually formed his own group called 'Fusion Port' in December 2006, and they regularly performed around Moscow clubs and at music festivals. Grinev, along with Natalia Skvortsova and others, co-wrote their own songs, as well as devising their own 'jazz-fusion' arrangements of many existing 'jazz' standards. He also played bass on the 2009 LP "Oshchushcheniye Real'nosti" by Tatyana Zykina, but in 2013 had moved on to become an executive director of the TV channel 'Zvezda', a post he held right up until his death. Roman Grinev died in Moscow on November 4th 2018, aged just 41, and leaves one son. He reportedly fell from the 17th floor window of his city apartment, and is thought to have been sleepwalking at the time - an activity he had previously been prone to. (He had suffered a serious head injury in an accident some years before this, being diagnosed with a short-term memory impairment after examination.) [ Translated from: ]

Hundreds of very talented musicians pass away each year, some without much recognition at all. On "Rest In Peace", I aim to give them a fitting 'send-off', with a decent Tribute. I hope you will join me in marking their passing.....
