Fotheringay

Lynn Southgate (passed away 19.07.2019) was an English freelance artist and ex-member of music social network "This Is My Jam". Born in England, she later became an adored mother and grandmother through conventional partnership, but as her own woman then took the path instead of painting, music, peace and health. Having travelled widely across Europe and Asia since 1991, she eventually chose to stay in her adopted country, Cambodia. Sadly though, she was told by the authorities there in 2018 that she must leave the country, so after returning for a short while to her roots then followed love all the way to Turkey. Part of the way through 2019, extreme pain from a rib had caused her great distress and meant she could not do all she had been able to in the past - this would soon include her beloved tending of the garden and the tasty vegetables she grew for the table. Lynn Southgate passed away in Turkey on July 19th 2019. Age is just a number, she would have said. Rest in peace forever, friend and music lover - wherever you are right now, please hear this song, a declared favourite of yours:

"How often she has gazed from castle windows o'er,
And watched the daylight passing within her captive wall,
With no-one to heed her call.

"The evening hour is fading within the dwindling sun,
And in a lonely moment those embers will be gone
And the last of all the young birds flown.

"Her days of precious freedom, forfeited long before,
To live such fruitless years behind a guarded door,
But those days will last no more.

"Tomorrow at this hour she will be far away,
Much farther than these islands,
Or the lonely Fotheringay."

† REST IN PEACE †
Hundreds of very talented musicians pass away each year, some without much recognition at all. On "Rest In Peace", I aim to give them a fitting 'send-off', with a decent Tribute. I hope you will join me in marking their passing.....
