Hans Reffert (1946 to 2016) was a German musician, composer and artist. Hans Reffert was born on July 19th 1946 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Germany. From 1962 to 1963, he studied painting with Franz Nagel, then guitar with Sigi Schwab, and finally flute and composition as part of his education in Mannheim. He was involved with a number of ensembles, including 'Flute & Voice' (1970 to 1975), 'Zauberfinger' (with Lisa Kraus and Rolf Schaude), 'Sanfte Liebe', and 'Schrammel & Slide' (with Adax Dörsam). However, he was possibly best-known for his work with German 'Krautrock' band 'Guru Guru' during 1988, and again from 1997 to 2000. He joined them once more in 2005, playing with them until his death. He collaborated with composer/musician Adolf Wölfli on the project "Musik für Adolf Wölfli", and also created commissioned works for the National Theatre in Mannheim (plus others), as well as for cinema and television productions. An expert 'Hawaiian guitar' player, since 1971 Reffert had also produced paintings and objects of art for display at numerous exhibitions. He had been based in Mannheim since his early days, his full-time job there being in publishing. Hans Reffert died in Mannheim on February 22nd 2016, aged 69.

Hundreds of very talented musicians pass away each year, some without much recognition at all. On "Rest In Peace", I aim to give them a fitting 'send-off', with a decent Tribute. I hope you will join me in marking their passing.....
