Kjell Ohman (1943 to 2015) was a Swedish 'jazz' musician and bandleader. Kjell Ingemar Ohman was born in Sweden on September 3rd 1943. He was frequently engaged as conductor and arranger for record productions, and also television programmes such as "Notknackarna", "Hasse och Hans Vanner", "Cafe Lulea" and "Allsang pa Skansen". He worked on the latter programme for 17 years until 2011, when he suddenly announced that he did not want to continue, and left. Ohman was featured on a total of more than 8000 recordings, and some of the musicians he collaborated with were 'The Telstars', Marcus Osterdahl, Douglas Westlund, Claes Janson, Meta Roos, Georgie Fame, Alice Babs, Charlie Norman, Svend Asmussen, Arne Domnerus, 'Simons', Rune Gustafsson, Hans Backenroth, Ulf Lundell, Toots Thielemans and Ulf Wakenius. He had formed the 'Ohman Organ Grinders' in 1987, featuring himself on the Hammond organ, and subsequently led his own orchestra. Ohman was awarded the 2006 "Jan Johansson-stipendiet", and in 2013 received the "Musikerforbundets pris Studioraven". Kjell Ohman died on November 5th 2015 in Trangsund-Skogas, Stockholm, aged 72.

Hundreds of very talented musicians pass away each year, some without much recognition at all. On "Rest In Peace", I aim to give them a fitting 'send-off', with a decent Tribute. I hope you will join me in marking their passing.....
