Tak Mengapa
by Orkes Nirwana, feat. A Rahman Hassan, lead vocals/guitar
A Rahman Hassan (1946 to 2019) was a Malaysian singer and composer. Abdul Rahman bin Hassan was born in Kuala Lumpur, British Malaya (now Malaysia) on July 30th 1946. During his long career, he was a vocalist with the group 'Orkes Nirwana' (probably themselves best-known for the song "Tak Mengapa", featured here). While with the group, they were included in the Malaysia Book of Records as the "Longest Surviving 'Ye Ye' Pop Group". In 2005, he was given the "Wirama Award" at the AIM Music Industry Awards, and then won the "Music Industry Leadership Prize" at the Papuita Kecapi Awards the following year. From 1970, Hassan had been married to the singer Azizah binti Mohamad (until her death in 2013), and on Christmas Day the following year he then wed the actress Datin Fadilah Mansor. His best-known other songs during his career were probably "Semoga Berjaya", "Bimbang" and "Perpaduan Hidup". Having been hospitalized in Ampang on June 1st 2019 after he lost consciousness at a petrol station, A Rahman Hassan seemed to be gradually improving health-wise; sadly though, he died in the hospital on June 13th 2019, aged 72, after suffering a resulting brain haemorrhage. He leaves his wife Datin plus a son and daughter from his first marriage.

Hundreds of very talented musicians pass away each year, some without much recognition at all. On "Rest In Peace", I aim to give them a fitting 'send-off', with a decent Tribute. I hope you will join me in marking their passing.....
