Nature Boy
by Sergey Manukyan Trio, feat. Sergey Ostroumov, drums
Sergey Ostroumov (1965 to 2019) was a Russian drummer, with 'Mashina Vremeni', and teacher. Sergey Ostroumov was born in Almetyevsk, Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation, on July 4th 1965. He studied in the pop-jazz department of the Ufa College of Arts, then played percussion in the ensembles of Yuldybaeva Marat and Oleg Kireev. In 1992, he joined the quartet formed by Andrei Kondakov and Andrei Ryabov, and performed with them at festivals both home and abroad (these included the Jazz Ost West festival in Nuremberg and the North Sea festival in The Hague). From 1992 to 1996 Ostroumov lived in the Netherlands, and following his return to Russia became one of the most sought-after drummers in the Moscow and St Petersburg areas. At the turn of the millennium however, he moved from the northern capital to live in Moscow, where he collaborated with artists such as Alexander Rostotsky, Sergey Manukyan (with whom he is featured here), Nike Borzov, Harry Bart and Rabbi Koltrein, as well as with the group 'Trio Eugene Borscht'. In 2001, he became a member of the 'Creole Tango Orchestra', and since 2004 had been a permanent touring and session percussionist for 'Mashina Vremeni'. He also taught percussion to students in his spare time to generate extra earnings. Sergey Ostroumov died from a stroke in Moscow on June 16th 2019, aged 54. [ Translated from: ]

Hundreds of very talented musicians pass away each year, some without much recognition at all. On "Rest In Peace ✚", I aim to give them a fitting 'send-off', with a decent Tribute. I hope you will join me in marking their passing.....
