Highwomen
by The Highwomen
New female "supergroup" comprising of Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris, Amanda Shires and Natalie Hemby who've all been very successful in their own right.

The name of the band is a homage to the legendary "Highwaymen" that comprised Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings that recorded three successful albums.

This is a re-working of the beautiful Jimmy Webb song "Highwayman", that "The Highwaymen" first recorded. Here's a #Bonus of their original version:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFkcAH-m9W0

Jimmy Webb worked closely with the women to help rewrite the lyrics, to make it more appropriate for them and the changing times. It features guest vocalist Yola, who sings the powerful verse:
" I was a freedom rider
When we thought the South had won
Virginia in the spring of '61
I sat down on the Greyhound that was bound for Mississippi
My mother asked me if that ride was worth my life
And when the shots rang out I never heard the sound
But I am still around
And I'll take that ride again"
