All My Loving
by The Beatles
A really great driving ballad - by which I mean the sentiment and delivery are of a true love song, but the beat carries it along way faster than any ordinary love song would. This is Lennon/McCartney (probably more Paul than John though) getting into gear as songwriters, and no mistake. Their discographical road was paved with gold from this point on really.

By my tenth birthday in this year, I was well and truly hooked on the Fab Four, and little else mattered for a while. I would go on to take an interest in other Swinging Sixties bands and artists soon after, in between the boys issuing each of their singles, but I was a true fan back then before their inter-band issues emerged and their various female romantic interests clouded the group's focus and direction.

'The Beatles':
:: After recording "Love Me Do", "P. S. I Love You", "Please Please Me" and "Ask Me Why" in 1962, the remaining 10 tracks for their first album, "Please Please Me", took only ten hours to record. ...
:: Among the food and drink mentioned in their songs are eggs, onion, cornflakes, honey, coffee, marshmallows, cherry, truffles, ginger, pineapple, honey, octopus, turkey, marmalade, coconut fudge, tangerine, strawberries, mustard and pies. But there are no "scrambled eggs", Paul's original working title as he was composing the tune "Yesterday". ...
:: In all, 'The Beatles' received fifteen "Ivor Novello Awards" from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors.

In #1964 :
:: Plans to build the twin towers of the World Trade Center were announced in New York City on January 18th ...
:: Geraldine 'Jerrie' Mock became he first woman to fly solo around the world in 1964. Piloting a single engine Cessna 180 (called the "Spirit of Columbus" but nicknamed "Charlie"), she had taken off from Columbus, Ohio, on March 19th and, after 29 days, 21 stopovers and almost 22,860 miles, landed back in the same location on April 17th. ...
:: On August 26th, the Italian Communist Party selected Luigi Longo as their chairman. He had opposed the dictatorship of fascist Benito Mussolini from the start in 1922, going into French exile due to this. After his election, he preferred to continue the ideal known as the "Italian road to Socialism", rather than any hard alliance between the Italian Communist Party and the Soviet Union.

For a few years in the 1960s, London was the world capital of cool, reflecting all things hip and fashionable which had been growing in the popular British imagination throughout the decade. Music was also a huge part of London's swing - Liverpool had 'The Beatles' and the London sound was a mix of bands like 'The Who', 'The Kinks', the 'Small Faces' and 'The Rolling Stones'. Hopefully, you'll catch a flavour of all this from my posts here.
