Sakura Sakura
by Yo-Yo Ma
Well, even if classical or chamber music isn't your bag, you've likely heard of Yo-Yo Ma, the Chinese-American cellist. Born in Paris, he spent his schooling years in New York City and was a child prodigy, performing from the age of four and a half. He graduated from the Juilliard School and Harvard University and has performed as a soloist with orchestras around the world. Mr. Ma’s discography of over 100 albums (including 19 Grammy Award winners) reflects his wide-ranging interests.

And one of those interests is the by-now-familiar "Sakura, Sakura". Ma is accompanied with harpsichord and flute.

So, where are the cherry blossoms in Japan? They continue to open in the north while fading in the south, with good viewing now in Kitakami in the Iwate Prefecture. Kitakami is known for the more than 10,000 cherry trees planted alongside the Kitakami River in Tenshochi Park.
