Thecoverguy's current selection is:
Summer Nights
by 14 Iced bears
Written by Jim Jacob's and Warren Casey the first performance was conducted in 1972 of the Broadway production of Grease by Barry Bostwick & Carole Demas + The Grease Cast and an original cast recording followed

The best known version was by John Travolta & Olivia Newton John and it was huge making #1 in the UK and staying there for 7 weeks in 1978 it also made #1 in Ireland and top 10 almost everywhere else including the Billboard Hot 100 where it reached #5.

14 Iced Bears were from Brighton and associated with the C86 music scene they released 2 full albums and a few compilations Thet were formed in 1985 split in 1992 but did a few festivals in 2010/2011

They are referred to as jangly Indie pop with fuzzy protopunk influenced guitar as noted here.

This track appeared on random play and I thought it was "Wild Thing" to start with.. the band had the same feeling as you'll notice if you last the pace!

The album was a compilation of covers of 70s hits to raise funds for the Anti Poll Tax Campaign in the UK...
