Written in 1977 by Ric Ocasek Just What I needed was originally released as a demo which garned lots of praise and as a result it was included in The Cars debut album and but first released as the band lead single from the album
It reached #27 in the Billboard Hot 100 and 17 in the UK

"The opening riff of "Just What I Needed" was borrowed from "Yummy Yummy Yummy", a song by the Ohio Express" in this instance Benjamin Orr handled the vocals
