Thecoverguy's current selection is:
The first time ever I saw your face
by Unkle feat Keaton Heston
Written by Political Singer/Songwriter Ewan MacColl in 1957 it was performed live and recorded by a number of folk singers. It wasn't until 1962 when it was released by The Kingston Trio on their album New Frontier followed by recordings by a number of folk performers such as Peter Paul & Mart and Gordon Lightfoot

In 1972 Roberta Flack turned it into a monster hit. Original appearing on her 1969 LP First Take Roberta's track received a boost when it was used on the 1971 Clint Eastwood flick Play Misty for me. The original song length was 2.30 and Flacks version was 5+ minutes but buoyed on by the film and reduced to 4 minutes in length it was released as a single. It hit #1 in the Billboard Hot 100 and in Canada whilst peaking at #14 in the UK

British Trip Hop group Unkle had recorded the song live in 2014 it was issued as a self released single and used on the closing credits of the film shelter with Keaton Heston on vocals. He is a Folk Rock singer who has released 6 albums and has also performed with the band Behaving The Staves and The Flight.

The new album is scheduled in May but in advance of that they have dropped this single

Members of Unkle (who I assume are current)
James Lavelle
Matthew Puffett
Jack Leonard

Ewan MacColl was said to have hated all cover versions he heard

"MacColl made no secret of the fact that he disliked all of the cover versions of the song. His daughter-in-law wrote: "He hated all of them. He had a special section in his record collection for them, entitled 'The Chamber of Horrors'. He said that the Elvis version was like Romeo at the bottom of the Post Office Tower singing up to Juliet. And the other versions, he thought, were travesties: bludgeoning, histrionic, and lacking in grace." (Wiki)

Don't know what he'd make of this
