leejohnson's current selection is:
Tangerine
by Led Zeppelin
#1970

There follows an extract from the Wikipedia entry for the song "Tangerine" by Led Zeppelin, for no good reason other than to give you something to read while listening. Click the link at the bottom to read more about this tune (if you wish - there's plenty to read, believe it or not, including why they left a confusing-for-some 'vocal tempo guide', or 'count-in', as part of the start of the track on the album "Led Zeppelin III"!):

"Tangerine" was issued as an album track on "Led Zeppelin III" on 5 October 1970 in the US and 23 October 1970 in the UK and quickly went to number one on the album charts. It was included on the LP record's second side, which featured more acoustic- and folk-influenced tunes. It has been suggested that "Tangerine" "points the way to the future ... the acoustic guitar intro can easily be seen as an early template for 'Stairway to Heaven'". During Led Zeppelin's 1971–72 tours, the song was regularly included in their sets and included on several bootleg albums ... Several musical artists have performed or recorded it ... The song was played during the final scene of the 2000 Cameron Crowe film "Almost Famous", during the touring bus departure.

My personal second favourite of their "balladic" diversions, after the song "Thank You", which can be found on "Led Zeppelin II".

Born in 1954, leaving education by 1972, 'glam' was my thing, "Ziggy" Bowie my hero. I was even the only guy in my town with the haircut (though not the carrot red colouring!). Therefore every seventh selection is a Bowie track.
