Bells
by Hairetis Harper
Lute player and vocalist Yiagos Hairetis from Crete and experimental harpist Maria-Christina Harper from London collaborate for the first time to produce a dynamic unexpected duet.

The duo brings together the traditional music of Crete and the London experimental music scene. The unique rock soundscapes that Hairetis creates with his lute are fused with Maria-Christina’s powerful and experimental playing on her harp.

Hairetis was influenced by Cretan icons like Psarantonis en Nikos Xylouris, but also by Led Zeppelin, Doors, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. Harper is always looking for experiments with loop-, wah- and distortion pedals. In the past, she worked with Katie Melua, Soft Cell, Anni Hogan and Richard Strange.
