Nobody Loves You When You're Down and Out (Acoustic version)
by John Lennon
"Nobody Loves You (When You're Down and Out)" is a song written in 1973 by John Lennon, during his 'lost weekend' in Los Angeles, when he temporarily left Yoko Ono, had an affair with the couple's assistant May Pang and partied for many months with celebs such as Harry Nilsson, Phil Spector and Elton John.

The song was released on his 1974 album Walls and Bridges. The song is included on the 1986 compilation Menlove Ave., the 1990 box set Lennon, the 1998 box set John Lennon Anthology, the 2005 two-disc compilation Working Class Hero: The Definitive Lennon, and the 2010 box set Gimme Some Truth. This acoustic demo was probably recorded in October 1973.

John Lennon was shot and killed 39 years ago today by a man who bought a handgun in Hawaii for $169 and brought it to New York in his suitcase. Nearly 1.5 million Americans have died from gun violence - and many more have been injured - since Lennon’s assassination in 1980.
