Such A Cad
by Les Baroques

Les Baroques came from Baarn, a small town near Utrecht. They started in 1964, had a first single with 'Silky', a folk-rock song, that didn't score. This 'Such a Cad' was a huge hit in the Netherlands. Singer Gerard Schoenaker (AKA Gary O' Shannon) had a British mother, what would explain his pretty good pronunciation of the English lyrics. Also notable is the use of instruments like bassoon and harpsichord, before bands as Strawbs, Left Banke and Fairport Convention started experimenting with different instruments.

After many line-up changes and no new hits, the band finally split in 1969. Members of Les Baroques later played in prog bands like Exception, Brainbox, Vitesse, Wild Romance and Alquin.
