I Want You (She's So Heavy) [1 hour remix]
by The Beatles
The first minute is the best. Don't be intimidated. But it is hard to quit after that.

This is such an extraordinary song, it has been uploaded as isolated tracks too. Considered the supreme collaboration of four musicians at the height of their art and creative spirit, it served as a blueprint for R&R bands for decades after. Exquisite drums, inventive bass, succulent guitar. And the vocals! I dare anyone to sing with it - melody OR harmony - he is so inventive and loose and tight and hitting places only available within his soul. Ditto for the instrumentation of them all. I can only do a few notes without going wrong. For "O Darlin'" Paul went to the studio for a couple weeks to get his voice into Rock & Roll shape, and you can tell this song also benefitted from his vocal prowess.

The BBC Beatles station Abbey Road program I mentioned in my last jam is a delight and perfect for the musician/connoisseur who is looking to appreciate the exquisite talents of the fab four. One hour today, and again for the next three days. Available for replay for 25 days. Studio versions and demos presented IN CONTEXT with the Beatles themselves providing the commentary. Wow.
