Talking Loud And Sayin' Nothing (Original Rock Version)
by JAMES BROWN
A #FunkyFriday #original for this Sunday morning!
Shaka was looking for a 'rivalry' song this morning to tease @Bomberboy just a little bit since our NFL teams play each other today. Dallas Cowboys versus the Washington Redskins rivalry has gone back for Dallas even had an NFL team. I am not making that up.

Eighty years ago, the first owner of the Redskins, George Preston Marshall, relocated the franchise from Boston to Washington, D.C. As the story goes, Marshall thought a marching band and a good fight song would attract more fans to games, so he commissioned local bandleader Barnee Breeskin to compose a song. Marshall’s wife, Corinne Griffith, wrote the lyrics.

“Hail to the Redskins” debuted on Aug. 17, 1938. The Washington Redskins Marching Band – the first of its kind in the NFL – would march across the field in feathered headdresses during half time and play the song to a cheering crowd.

Then, in the late 1950’s, Breeskin sold the rights to the song to a Texas oil magnate named Clint Murchison Jr for $2,500. At the time, Murchison was trying to start a new NFL team in Dallas, but Marshall had blocked the deal.

The Redskins were the most southern team in the league, and a Texas team would have meant more competition for fans. Marshall also reportedly told the owner of the Chicago Bears that Murchison was “personally obnoxious.”

But Murchison’s hostage strategy worked: Marshall eventually caved, got his song rights back, and in 1960, the Dallas Cowboys were born. On Oct. 9 of that year, they played against the Redskins for the first time. The Redskins won. ~ https://wamu.org/story/17/11/30/rivalry-redskins-cowboys-first-begin/
Shaka Sez the Cowboys any games that the first year. In fact, they had only one tie against the Giants Latin by the play of their 5' 7' quarterback Eddie 'Little General' LeBaron that they had acquired from the 'Skins towards the end of his career.
Looking for a rivalry song today took longer than it should have since so many of those songs are much gorier than I was wanting for today.

These lyrics are for the trash-talking defensive back of the Redskins Josh Norman who was not impressed what's the Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott's big day last week. https://tinyurl.com/y2cmlzpy
In all fairness, he is one of those guys that if he had a star on his helmet probably back him up. That's the way Sports goes many times.

'Like a dull knife that just can't cut
Just talking a lot and saying nothing
And sayin' nothing, and sayin' nothing'

Shaka called the on-call hospice nurse this morning and was hung up on! I called back and she said to call the on-call nurse later today. I pass. I think I am about to become the first person that I know has ever quit hospice! I don't think that nurse #MuckyB aka @ChrissyB well I appreciate that very much. I have started weaning myself off of the pain medications and we'll go back is the normal dosage that my doctor was giving me. If I have a rough time then I will cross that bridge self-medicating.

Shaka has to finish chores then cookout for the Big Game!
