Lay Down Sally
by Eric Clapton

Another song that provided endless hours of entertainment to my parents, as I would dance around to this song whenever it was on. One other vivid memory I have of this song - sitting on the hood of my parents' '76 Chevy Monte Carlo parked just short of the runway at Bradley International Airport near Hartford, listening to it as we waited for jets to fly just overhead on their final approach to the airport. That was cheap entertainment for a little boy who had too much energy to be trapped at home on a warm summer night.

This is Clapton at his best, IMO. The B-side to this single (which hit #3 in the US during 1978, at the height of disco) was "Cocaine." I couldn't resist substituting the album cover icon with one of my favorite images in rock music culture.
