For #Pottymouth this also qualifies as #WomenThatRock

Finished reading Carrie Brownstein's memoir Hunger Makes Me A Modern Girl a deeply personal account, a triumph about her finding herself through music. Her band Sleater-Kinney called it quits in 2006 have reunited this year with a new album and tour. Brownstein and co-writer Tucker don't make soothing or conventionally feminine/sexy/pretty music...that got me thinking what to jam I could've chosen any number of Riot Grrrl or similar, Slits, Siouxsie, Sonic Youth etc. but decided to fast forward a bit. That is what brings me to jam Savages today. Savages mentioned a sound guy that quit on them as they took the stage, because women told him what to do. We've come a long way, we still have a long way to go.
I would've Jammed this original of the tune but God wouldn't let me, so here it is: https://youtu.be/Zkz6qKCYjDM
Brownstein talks about interviewers always asking "What's it like to be in an all-girl band" she said once she asked her friend Eddie Vedder what's it like to be in an all-guy band, which is of course such a ridiculous question he didn't bother to answer.

With Savages maybe it's possible that the conversation has shifted away from focusing mostly on the who (all women) to more the why & how and there's a great review of 2013 debut Silence Yourself on here: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/17977-savages-silence-yourself/

Coming in 2016 Adore Life...I'm looking forward to that.
