Brass In Pocket
by The Pretenders
The video - a workin' girl in a diner for #JobWeek. The song may be about something else entirely 'an experience or encounter' we can all use our imaginations, although Hynde was initially unhappy with the production eventually she was persuaded and the song was released.

I just finished Viv Albertine's memoir (hat tip again to my friend @debutch) he's full of surprises. Shout out for anyone with recs for music memoirs and rockumentaries...keep 'em coming.

Did you know that In the US in 2014, female full-time workers made only 79 cents for every dollar earned by men?

It's no great wonder that in 1976 one of the most bad-ass things you could do was quit school, pick up a guitar, make some art and let the world hear your voice. Countless females that have come along since saw artists like Chrissie Hynde, The Slits, The Raincoats and Patti Smith and said... well, why not me? This song goes out to all the working ladies and everyone who dares to choose the creative life, like Viv.
